Electrical engineering senior Davis Meissner was just one of a number of lucky students and staff invited to go up in one of the two Sikorsky helicopters that landed on the Student Union Mall last fall as part of a celebration of the partnership between UConn and Lockheed Martin – the parent company of Sikorsky. “When we first took off, it was like being on an elevator that didn’t stop,” says Meissner. Then the pilot made a few hard cuts. “We got sucked into our seats with the G-force.”

Meissner’s other memorable air trip? On a flight a few years ago, while looking for a college to attend, he sat next to a young woman from his Wisconsin hometown. It turned out she had moved to Connecticut for a job. They began dating (still are) and that’s how he became a Husky! — MICHAEL ENRIGHT ’88 (CLAS)
